Less than a mile from Interstate 77, this bright and cheerful shop is owned by Joyce Ely. She had sewn for years, and the opportunity to open the shop presented itself around the time special needs daughter was aging out of the school system. Walking into this shop is like walking into sunshine with all of the bright colors, which was wonderful since there was snow outside! There are over 550 bolts of fabric here, all in bright colors and modern prints. There are solids and blenders, as well as plain Grunge. Large and small prints, many suitable for Stack-n-Whack, are available. Don’t miss the racks of assorted polka dots, in all colors and sizes! Black and white prints are in a section of their own, and there is a lot of fabric from Michael Miller. Fat quarter packs, Charm Packs, Candies (2 1/2″ Square packs), Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls are in stock. There is a sale room, and trims are available for quilts or clothing.
There are wonderful samples here, so make sure you check them out while you are in the shop. Older shop samples are sold when the fabric lines sells out, so if you’re looking for a completed quilt check out what is available – or reserve one of the samples for later,.
There are also patterns available, so pick a pattern and then start picking fabrics! Miss Joyce will be happy to help you select fabrics if you are unsure or new to this – she was working on a set of blocks for a class when I was in that are going to be lovely. She doesn’t carry kits, as they tend to make everyone’s quilt come out the same. I must agree; I use patterns as a launch point and pick my own fabrics.
Miss Sarah was a vital part of the shop until the Covid crisis started. She still comes in when the shop is closed to the public, and loves making and donating pillow cases – over 5,000 so far! She has also started a business called Down Right Charming, that donates baby quilts to parents adopting Down’s Syndrome children. She also sells quilts and pillowcases.
