Make It Sew El Reno, Oklahoma

As you can see, I am on a road trip. My favorite Lieutenant asked me to help him look at houses, since his next base is Tinker AFB near Oklahoma City. Of course I had to check out the local quilt shops, not to mention the ones on the way home! This delightful shop is located less than three miles from Interstate 40 and less than an hour from Oklahoma City. Owner MaCrae Putnam has been sewing clothing “forever” and quilting for about six years.

There is a great selection of fabrics, with over 3,000 bolts on hand to tempt you. There are flannels, fat quarters, and panels, as are solids, blenders, and tone on tone. Grunge in plain and dots is present. There is a great selection of batiks, and the small prints are wonderful. Stack-n-Whack possibilities seem endless! There are also Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes. There are Wilmington Dry Brush blenders, as well as fabrics from Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett.

Miss MaCrae not only sews quilts; she also designs them! The shop will be featured in the Quilt Sampler Magazine to be released September 7, 2022. Quite and honor for a shop that has been open only two years! The peacock at the right is one of her designs; she was working on a new one for the magazine that I was not permitted to discuss or photograph – you’ll have to wait until September!

There is also a three directional photo quilt in the shop. Head on it is Miss MaCrae; from one side is her mother and from the other her daughter. Don’t miss seeing it in person! She also makes delightful photo collage quilts.

Please plan to be here for at least 20 to 30 minutes.
