Gabby’s Sewing & More Charleston, West Virginia

Travel just over a mile from Interstate 79, and watch for this sign on the roof that points you to this delightful shop. It is located on the bottom level around the back of the complex Owner Rebecca Chapman presides over the activity inside, and her staff is wonderful!

First, check out the fabrics! there are over 6,000 bolts on hand to keep you busy, including West Virginia University, Marshall, and University of Kentucky fabrics. Solids, tone on tones, batiks, and blenders are on hand, as well as small prints and some wonderful large prints that beg to be Stack-n-Whack projects. Layer Cakes,m Jelly Rolls, and Charm Packs are here as well. Plain grunge is available,as are beautiful wide backings. New fabrics are shelved together so you can’t miss them. Patriotic, Fall, and Christmas fabrics are always available, and there are a lot of Moda collections. Don’t miss the sale rack; I saw some wonderful bargains there! My next One Block Wonder fabric is in the bag, and I didn’t have to break the budget too badly!

Samples are displayed all over the shop. Many are class samples, like the adorable dinosaur shown here. Please check the website for classes, times, and costs. The shop is also a Kimberbell dealer, so check out the patterns while you’re visiting.

Long arm services are also available, generally hand driven stippling. Please contact the shop for details, pricing, and lead times.

Gabby’s is a dealer for Bernina, Janome, and Brother sewing machines, and also repairs most makes and models in house. Check out the new machines while you’re visiting, or bring “old faithful” in for a tune-up. Vacuum Cleaner sales, repair, and supplies are also available.

I would plan to be here for at least thirty to forty-five minutes to see everything.
