Quilts by Phyllis, Inc. Hurricane, West Virginia

Located about one half mile from I64, this wonderful shop is also a listed attraction on the interstate! Opened in 1993 in South Charleston as a long arm business by owner Phyllis Handley, it has grown into a thriving quilt shop that also offers long arm finishing, and a new and larger location in the town of Hurricane.. The entrance is around the right side of the building looking from the street.

This is clearly more than a long arm shop , with over 4,000 bolts of premium quilting cotton on hand. Designers include Kaffe Fassett, Tula Pink, the Kansas Troubles line (ALL of the fabrics coordinate in this Civil War offering), and Tim Holtz, my go to fabric for men’s quilts. There are solids and blenders, tone on tones, and beautiful large and small prints. Wide backings are also on hand to complete your project “seamlessly.” West Virginia University fabrics are also featured. Don’t miss the great selection of Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and of course patterns!

Every collection is featured in a sample quilt, and these quilts are sold when the collection sells out. Love the sample? Ask to reserve it!

Classes are also available at all skill levels, as well as regular Sit and Sew days where you can make new friends, chat with old friends, or get advice if you are stuck on a pattern or technique. Please check the website or the newsletter for more details.

There are two long arm systems in house, and edge to edge quilting to complete your project is available. Please contact the shop for pricing and lead times.

I would plan to be here for at least thirty to forty-five minutes to see all that this shop has to offer.

About that knee – Part 2: I have had the surgery and am well on my way to recovery. I would not recommend a revision (remove the old metal and plastic joint, put in a new one) to my worst enemy; it is and remains more painful that the total knee I had on the left in 2004. Healing is going to be a slower process, bu I am on the way! I will be starting to post on both Monday and Thursday in October.

Stop back on Monday to see where the North American Shop Hop is visiting next!
