Treasure Every Stitch Baker City, Oregon

When a mining engineer gets tired of being on the road away from his family, the obvious solution is to learn to quilt and open a quilt shop with his wife, right? It’s been working well for Steve and Kristi Harris for the last 12 years, owners of this delightful shop located inside the block square Basche Sage shopping complex in Baker City. Google takes you to the Main Street entrance, where you have to cut through another store to get to the center of the mall. Instead go to the Broadway Street entrance and the shop is right inside.

Fabric rules, from solids to blenders to Banyan Batiks made by Northcott. Many of these batiks have a printed overlay, so you can play with Stack-n-Whack with the overlay and get some really cool sub patterns from the batik underneath. There are also large and small prints, and some wonderful wide backings in both 108″ cotton and 90″ Cuddle. Included in the 4,000 plus bolts of fabric are also panels, Tilda, and always a great selection of Christmas prints. Flannels are also on hand, as are Jelly Rolls and Fat Quarter bundles. Fat Quarters are with the fabric, so if you need just a bit you don’t need to hunt for it.

There are samples throughout the store, and many have kits to match. I may yet be tempted to do a red work embroidery quilt! The one shown here is delightfully whimsical, and I love the mix of fabrics and embroidery. Patterns are available for this and many others, and DMC floss is on hand.

The shop also sells Janome sewing machines, as well as handling repairs and tune-ups for most brands.

I would plan at least thirty to forty-five minutes here to see all of the goodies.
