This one is easy to find; it is actually along US Route 2 near Floodwood, Minnesota. Owner Melissa Pele has been serving the local community, as well as online customers, for over 20 years. However, she kindly requests that visitors not wear perfumes or essential oils into the shop, as she – rather like me – is quite allergic to them. DO NOT let that keep you from visiting this wonderful shop!
Do you like Stonehenge? This shop carries the entire line, including precuts. These are only some of the over 6,000 bolts of fabric on hand here. There is grunge in solids and dots, solids, and blenders. I found large and small prints, and a great selection of batiks, including a line I will discuss more below. There are precuts including Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs. There is a line of digital panels that feature local scenes, with pictures taken by local artists, and panels made by Northcott. Don’t miss the North Woods Room, with fabrics and samples dedicated to outdoor themes. Cuddle and wide backings are here, and holiday fabrics are also available all year.
Don’t miss the wonderful line of batiks designed in the shop and made by Hoffman, exclusive to this shop. After all, if you can’t find fabrics that reflect your area, why not design your own? New ones are added each year. The pillow case samples along the wall are all made with this custom batik line; these are just a few samples.
There are a lot of samples to enjoy here, and there are patterns and kits available for most of them, including the pillow cases made from the custom batiks. There are also kits from two lines developed in the shop, Minnesota Charms and Hingeley Road Quilt Designs. Other patterns are also available, and of course you can always create your own kit while you’re in the shop. Miss Melissa will be glad to help if you get stuck…
