Located just under a mile from AK-1, this beautiful shop is the first of several I visited in Anchorage. Google Maps is a little confusing. You need to turn onto Toloff Street to get to 88th; there is no direct entry from 88th Street, but you can see the shop from where Google takes you so you’re good to go. Angelyn Starr owns this shop, and her identical twin Enjoli Strait owns Doodles Quilting Studio next door. Between the two of them, they can help shepherd your project from beginning to end!
There is wonderful fabric here, with well over 3,000 bolts on hand. Over 150 of those bolts are Alaska themed. Then there is Kaffe Fassett, local high school team fabrics, and plenty of solids and blenders to mix with them. There are also tone on tones, and a full range of Grunge including plain, dots, stars, and metallics. There are large and small prints, as well as Jelly Rolls and Bali Pops. Don’t miss the ice dyed batiks! There are wide backings, Cuddle in 90″ widths, and 60″ wide flannels. Just to prove you’re in Alaska, there is also a selection of parka linings in 6, 8, and 11.5 ounce weights. One customer said the 11.5 ounce could make a sleeping bag, it’s so warm!
These adorable bears are here on consignment, and are just one of the many samples on display. There are Laura Heine patterns and kits, as well as kits for full sized quilts.
Long Arm services are available right next door, so feel free to wander over and check out pricing and lead times or call Doodle Quilting Studio at 907-764-4086.
The shop is also a registered Bernina dealer, so if you are looking for feet or need service for your baby, do stop in or call.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to thirty minutes to see all that this shop has to offer.
