The Quilt Tree Anchorage, Alaska

AK-1 is kind of the “main drag” in Anchorage. This is the second of the Anchorage shops, located less than a mile from AK-1 and about 5 miles from Monday’s shop. Google gets a bit confused as it does not seem to recognize that there are one way streets here. Watch for the sign on Benson Boulevard; Google takes you around the Barnes & Noble off of Northern Lights Boulevard if you are northbound. If you follow this blog, you might remember that owners Carol Prosser, Brandy Bland, and Sarah Klever also own Just Sew in Palmer, Alaska. They have been operating this store for 25 years, and are VERY experienced quilters!

You will find wonderful fabrics here, featuring Charley Harper, Kaffe Fassett, and M&S Aboriginals, as well as Alaska themed fabrics. There are solids and blenders, tone on tones, and a great selection of large and small prints. Batiks are also present as part of the over 6,000 bolts on hand. Don’t miss the Inferno line by Giucy Giuce, a beautiful ombre collection! Browse through the Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, Fat Quarter Packs, and Fat Eighth packs. Wide backings are available, as well as a selection of parka linings, yarn, and velvet.

Classes are offered regularly; please check online for times and costs. Samples throughout the shop are generally current classes or available kits, and they are beautiful! Flannel kits are very popular here – something about winter temperatures falling way below zero!

There are also kits for bags and totes, with a full selection of patterns, mesh, and notions for Bags by Annie. Yarns are available, and classes include both knitting and quilting.

I would plan to be here for at least thirty to forty-five minutes.
