Four Seasons Stitchery Grantsville, Maryland

Two miles from Interstate 68 in Maryland is an old school that has been converted into shops and offices. If you turn right toward the old first grade, cafeteria, and kitchen area, you will find Four Seasons Stitchery. Owner Shelley Booska has been in business for 35 years, 33 of those years in this location, so this building has not been a school for a long time. However, it still looks like a school when you drive up to it. Park and head in the main entrance, go in, and then turn right and enjoy.

There is a wide selection of fabric here, ranging from prints to blenders to panels to Civil War to batiks, and every room has a different set of things to see. Don’t forget to look up occasionally, or you will miss a lot of the samples, like the “Therapy in Session” wall hanging shown below – I loved this one! How many of us use quilting as our therapy?

As you can see, fabric is shelved by color wave in the old kitchen area. Other areas have prints or panels. I kept having to go back to take pictures because I was lost in all of the fabric! Four Seasons stocks over 3,500 bolts, so you are sure to find something you can’t leave behind. Look at the full shelf of neutrals!

For wool enthusiasts, the shop carries a selection of wool squares. These are back in the First Grade room. You will also find an alcove of Cross Stitch supplies in this area. There are also purses, quilts, and other hand made gifts in case you are not crafty or need something and don’t have time to sew. I spent about an hour and a half here, so allow yourself some time to browse.
