Jeff’s Sewing & Vacuum Center Augusta, Georgia

Located just under four miles from Interstate 20, or a mile and a half from down Washington Road from last Thursday’s shop, this fun shop has great fabric – and allows for mistakes! More on that later. Owner Jeff Faircloth has been serving the local area for some time, and has a wonderfully expert staff to answer all of your quilting questions.

Fabrics are central here. The vacuums have a corner, the fabric has rooms! Selections include tone on tones in black and white, solids and blenders, and batiks. Large prints leave me dreaming of one block wonders, while smaller prints beg to be matched with the solids and leave me mentally checking my pattern stash. There are wonderful panels on hand, and a lot of Northcott, Marcus Brothers, Michael Miller, and many other designers, over 3,000 bolts to admire. Fat Quarter bundles, Jelly Rolls, and Charm Packs are also on hand. The shop also carries a selection of bias quilt binding in various widths and colors, so be sure to check it out!

There are two Block of the Month groups running, and every BOM comes with the option to buy a “Boo Boo Bundle.” This is protection against cutting errors, and I haven’t seen this anywhere else. Samples are displayed, and there is a wonderful collection of patterns in the shop. There is also a Kimberbell Club that meets here. Classes are available; please check online for what is offered and when.

The shop is a registered dealer for Brother, Baby Lock, and Janome machines. I spent some time comparing the brands; if you are in the market spend some time looking at these when you’re visiting. Repairs are offered for all brands and models.

I would plan to spend at least thirty to forty-five minutes here.

This will be my last post for some time. I have enjoyed sharing these shops with all of you, but I am finding travel somewhat difficult. I’ll reconsider future plans when it gets warmer. In the meantime, I will be working on converting all of these 450 or so shop reviews into a book… Blessings, Jean Heller (nashophop@gmail.com)
