The Quilt Parlor Battle Mountain, Nevada

Let me start by wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year, full of fabric and quilts!

Located just over two miles from Interstate 80 and about 55 miles from Winnemucca, this lovely shop opened in 2016 and has been serving the local area ever since. Owner Chris Ripley refers to the shop as “shabby chic heaven,” and it certainly fits the bill. Don’t even think the fabrics are shabby, though!

New fabrics arrive weekly, so be prepared for staples and new ideas when you visit. The 2,500 plus bolts on hand include solids and blenders, and beautiful batiks. There is also a wonderful selection of large prints (really, a Stack-n-Whack dream), as well as smaller prints. Fat quarters are shelved with the parent bolts. Precuts include Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs. Shannon Cuddle is available in both 60″ and 90″, and there is a great selection of cotton wide backings a swell.

Samples are delightful and plentiful, and some are sold when the fabric line sells out. If you love one, ask if it can be reserved. There is also a rack of completed quilts for sale. Check out the numerous Three Yard Quilt kits. There are also Annie’s Bags notions, including zippers by the yard with separate pulls, so if you make bags check them out. Don’t miss the selection of threads by Omni, Gutterman, and Aurofil. You can also check out the current Block of the Month.

Edge to edge long arm services are available in house; please contact the shop directly for pricing and lead times if your masterpiece needs to be completed.

The town has a population of around 3,000, which doesn’t sound like much, but Nevada has a LOT of long empty stretches, and this is a lovely oasis in the middle of a long dry run. I would plan to spend at least twenty to forty minutes here.
