Stash Walla Wall, Washington

This delightful shop opened in 2009, and within a year, in October of 2010, moved into a larger space in the historic district on Main Street. By May of 2014, they were recognized as one of the top ten shops by Better Homes and Gardens® Quilt Sampler® Magazine.

The owners, Kathy and Ann Hamada, are not sisters as one might expect, but rather married cousins and so share the same last name. The shop is located across town from Monday’s shop, about a mile from US 12 but one exit down.

Plan to be here for thirty to forty minutes, as there is a lot to see!

Fabric first! The 6,000 plus bolts on hand include designers Kaffe Fassett, Tula Pink, Amy Butler, Anna Marie Horner, Ruby Star, and Tilde, to name a few. The new Tilde line, called Bloomsville, is on hand and it is beautiful. Expect the same soft coloring that the Tilde is known for, with great small to medium flowers throughout. There are also batiks, solids and blenders, tone on tones, and of course with Kaffe and Tula there are wonderful large and small prints, some I was just itching to stack and play with! Precuts include Bali Pops, Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes. Wide backings include 60″ Cuddle as well as 108″ cotton. There is also a lovely selection of Essex Linens for quilting or clothing.

Time to talk samples. Most samples have kits, and if kits are sold out, look for the pattern and fabrics. Notice patterns displayed among the fabric shelves as well. There are also bag patterns, and samples to match.

Want to take a class? Check online for current offerings and prices, and if you’re going to be in the area, take a break and take a class! The wall of samples is in the classroom, so make sure you go in and check them out, and see what inspires you!

The shop is a registered Bernina dealer, and repairs these machines in house. They also work on some antique machines, and some other brands. If your machine is not a Bernina, please call and check before bringing it in. Looking for a new machine? I think the capabilities of some of the newer ones are amazing – and quite tempting! One of these shops, I’m going to get in trouble…
