Located just under two miles from Interstate 94 in a town of 600 people, this busy shop is also the local florist and coffee shop. Owner Suzy Rummel spent years listening to her seven sisters talking about their stashes and watching them make beautiful things with cloth, and rehabbed a combination drugstore/soda shop/butcher shop into a wonderful stash of her own.
There are over 3,000 bolts of fabric here, from Kansas Troubles (a Civil War line that uses the same dyes in all of their fabrics, so everything coordinates) to Grunge in plain, dots, and stars. There are solids and blenders, tone on tones, and batiks. Don’t miss the large and small prints, and the great selection of 30’s Reproduction fabrics! The there are flannels, 60″ Shannon Cuddle prints and 90″ Cuddle solids, and 108″ cotton backings. Precuts include Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes, Charm Packs, and Fat Quarters and Fat Eighths.
Look up when you come in the store – there are quilt blocks on the ceiling panels! These are in addition to the quilts on display. There are kits for most of the samples, and patterns for samples and more. There is also a selection of gift items on hand, from table runners to place mats to pot holders to pillow cases. Long Arm services are available form Miss Suzy’s sister, with cards for her on hand in the shop. I would plan to be here for at least twenty-five to forty minutes to see everything.
