This bustling shop is located less than two miles from Interstate 94, and is one of three shops by the same name. The second and third are in Duluth and Coon Rapids, and will have to wait for another trip. Owner Laura Maki runs the trio and keeps things moving, and is a talented quilter as well.
This location boasts over 3,000 bolts of fabric featuring wonderful batiks and large and small prints. Designers include Kaffe Fassett and Tilda, among others. There are also solids and blenders, with Grunge in plain, dots, and metallics. Don’t miss the panels, including some cloth book panels. Don’t feel like making the book? Use the pages as blocks for a child’s story time quilt! There is also faux fur for tactile quilts (or Teddy bears), and wool for applique. Shannon Cuddle is available is kits and yardage. Minky is also on hand, as are 108″ cotton backings. Flannel is also available.
The shop has beautiful samples, but you will have to visit to see them – I was asked not to photograph them as many are copyrighted. There are quilt kits on hand, and Laura Heine collage patterns. Check out the patterns and samples for bags as well. Don’t miss the crocheted dinosaur kits – they are adorable!
The shop is a registered dealer for Janome Bernina, and HandiQuilter. Factory Trained service personnel are on hand if your baby needs attention; please call for details. Long arm services are available in both edge to edge and some custom. Please contact the shop for pricing and lead time details.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to forty minutes, longer if you are looking at all of the wonderful machines!
