The Quilted Willow, LLC Mauston, Wisconsin

Located just over two and a half miles from Interstate 90/Interstate 94, this two year old shop is a fun stop and a great break from the interstates. Owner Carmen Olson (and her daughter, who helps out) are both experienced quilters and able to answer just about any question you may have. There are gifts available as well, like wooden barn quilt squares – I don’t see these very often, but I do know that people enjoy having them.

Fabrics include Civil War and 30’s Reproduction. There is also cork in several colors and patterns. Then check out the solids and blenders, as well as lovely tone on tones. Large and small prints abound, so have fun matching to make your favorite quilt pattern. Precuts include 2.5 inch and 5 inch squares. There are also some panels, as well as a nice selection of wide backings. With over 500 bolts on hand, the selection is wonderful! Don’t miss the antiques used as displays!

There are a lot of samples on display around the shop, so be sure to check these out when you visit. Each has the pattern name or a copy of the pattern pinned to it, so if you like it, you know exactly which pattern to purchase. This includes the Wisconsin Quilt behind the counter – it was made by the owner’s daughter, and the bed frame used to display it is delightful.

I would plan to spend at least twenty to forty minutes here.
