Schoolhouse Quilts Elizabeth, West Virginia

We will never forget. Today is the second day in the history of the United States that will live in infamy. However, because this was an attack by terrorists, I will not give them the satisfaction of changing how I live my life based on their actions. As with any abuser, I firmly believe that living well is the best revenge. Please remember those that gave their lives on that fateful day, and pray for their families. Then prove once again that the terrorists failed to take us down by being the best you that you can be, and refusing to live in fear.

Take the WV-14 exit off of Interstate 77 and travel just over thirteen miles to this wonderful quilt shop. Owner Carolyn Robinson is a retired banker who started a long arm business while working at the bank, and then retired, added fabric, and became a full time shop owner. The shop is in an old schoolhouse, hence the name, and has expanded to the point where classes are no longer feasible, as the fabric has absorbed all of the available room. Not a bad thing, I assure you!

Fabrics include a nice selection of batiks, and wonderful large and small prints. Then there are solids and blenders to match with the prints, and tone on tones for accents. There are also Prairie Basics by Pam Buda, a collection of 1880’s style fabrics. Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes are also available. Don’t miss the gorgeous wide backings! There is a large rose pattern that I would happily use for a Stack-n-Whack One Block Wonder, even if it is 108″ wide! All in all, there are over 1,000 bolts of fabric here to keep you busy.

The shop also sells completed quilts, most of which are retired shop samples. There are other samples on display as well. Patterns are also available, and you have the freedom to build your own kit for the pattern. If you need help, do ask; Miss Carolyn will be glad to provide guidance.

Edge to Edge quilting services are available; please contact the shop directly for pricing and lead times. I would plan to spend at least twenty to thirty minutes here.
