Located on a farm just seven miles from Interstate 78, this busy shop is owned by Anna Mae Martin. She runs her dry goods store as part of the Wooden Bridge Farm complex.
Google Maps gets you right to the front door, where you will find wonderful fabrics and notions, as well as enough quilting expertise to answer just about any question you may have. Do take a moment to admire the roses along the front before going inside; they were blooming beautifully when I visited!
Fabric is the main dry good here, with over 12,000 bolts on hand, although there is some clothing and other items as well. Fabrics include beautiful large and small prints and a great selection of batiks. These are complemented by solids, blenders, tone on tones, and flannel. The 200 plus wide backings include cottons and 108″ wide flannel, which I haven’t seen since I was in Canada and Alaska last summer. Precuts include Jelly Rolls, Fat Quarter Packs, and Charm Packs. Don’t forget to check out the selection of panels before you leave! There is also fake fur (wonderful for teddy beards), felt, and fleece. Fabrics are shelved by color, so if you want to match a blue, for instance, find the shelf and have fun!
Samples are on display around the shop. The flower panel shown has been embellished with cutouts of flowers from the same panel, so it is three dimensional – and absolutely gorgeous! There are also samples, patterns, and notions for Bags by Annie. There is also a large selection of stamped Jack Dempsey Needle Art ranging from pillow cases to whole cloth tops to quilt blocks. Embroidery thread is also available.
Classes include beginning quilting using both hand and machine piecing, chenille making, hand and machine quilting, foundation paper piecing, and everything in between. Please call the shop for class schedules and pricing. I would plan to spend at least thirty to forty- five minutes here.
