Stitch & Craft Manheim, Pennsylvania

This delightful shop is less than one quarter mile from the Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp. Get off on exit 266, and go left at the bottom of the ramp; the shop is right after the gas station. Owners Alice and Caleb Bross have owned the shop for about 22 years. It is obviously a gathering place for the local quilting and sewing community, judging by folks who stopped in while I was visiting. Expert advice is freely given, and the customers are clearly also friends.

There is a wonderful selection of fabrics here, including solids and blenders. Look for large and small prints, many great Stack-n-Whack candidates, and a nice selection of tone on tones. There is also a selection of Early American fabrics (think Civil War era), and beautiful wide backings in both cotton and Cuddle. Don’t miss the batiks and the large panel collection, including panels for cloth books or quilts that tell a story. All in all, there are over 4,000 bolts of fabric to spur your creativity. There is also flannel, fleece, homespun, and satin available.

There are samples on display throughout the shop, and there are not one or two but three Block of the Month groups in process. Classes are offered for children and adults, from beginning sewing to expert level quilting.

Long arm services are referred to an employee who provides this. Please call the shop for details if you have a top that needs to be quilted.

The shop is also a dealer for Juki and Baby Lock sewing machines, as well as repairing most brands. Check out the new machines while you’re visiting! Please call the shop for details on repairs if your machine needs help. I would plan to be here for at least twenty to thirty minutes.
