Continue your drive in the countryside around New Holland, and stop in at this wonderful shop. Located just six and a half miles north of last week’s shop (Cedar Lane Dry Goods), it is also just about five miles from US 222. Owned by Virginia Weaver, the shop is a general store and fabric shop, and carries a range of quilting fabrics, clothing fabrics, handmade goods, and dry goods.
Fabrics range from solids and blenders to tone on tones. There are beautiful large and small prints, and Minkee for backings. A good selection of cotton wide backings are also on hand. I saw John Deer fabrics, flannels, and some pretty panels. Laces and trims are available for embellishments or clothing. There is also a selection of fleece on hand. Make sure you check out the bolts along the back wall – I found some real treasures there! All in all, there are over 1,200 bolts of quilting fabric. Clothing fabrics are also available, in polyester and poly cotton.
If you need a souvenir (or a gift you don’t have time to make yourself), check out the selection of handcrafted items, ranging from crocheted net scrubbies to place mats and table runners. This selection changes from week to week based on what local crafters are sewing, so be sure to stop and check any time you’re in the area. You might even find a quilt..
I would plan to be here for fifteen to thirty minutes. If no one appears to be around, just call out and Miss Virginia will appear!
