Cedar Lane Dry Goods New Holland, Pennsylvania

Take a ride through farm country to this delightful shop, located just eleven miles from Route 30. Owned by Amos Horning, it features a nice selection of fabrics as well as a lot of trims, and buttons and zippers of all shapes and colors. If you make shirts, buttons are extremely reasonable and there is a great selection. Bias tape in many colors and folds is also on hand, but let’s take a peek at the fabrics!

The shop carries both quilting and clothing fabric, but my focus is the quilting cottons. There are over 3,000 bolts on hand to make your selection, with back up bolts in the warehouse. Start with the wonderful prints, and after you make your choice, go over to the solids and blenders to match the prints and complete your quilt kit. Of course, you can always just take a bunch to add to your stash! Smaller prints are also on hand, if you want a more subtle look for your masterpiece. There is also a nice selection of batiks. Panels, strip packs, charm packs are and flat folds are also available. Homespun, that wonderful yarn dyed fabric with no wrong side, is here to tempt you as well. There is also a selection of yarn for the knitting enthusiast.

One thing this shop carries that is unusual is completed quilt tops. These are the top only, so you can take them and hand or machine quilt however you want. There is a wonderful selection, definitely 100 or more, and they are beautiful. I know some folks enjoy the quilting but not so much the piecing – this is a perfect solution for that!

I would plan to be here for at least twenty to forty minutes to see everything.
