Located just east of the Kitchen Kettle Village shopping complex in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, and just over seven miles from historic Route 30, this wonderful shop is owned by Carol Maynard and her husband and partner Leo the Long-arm Specialist and he does wonderful work! I actually parked in the village parking area and walked next door to the shop, and then checked out the 40 shops in the village. I thought initially that this shop was part of the village, but it isn’t listed as such. Either way, don’t miss it!
Fabric here is unique and plentiful, with over 4,000 bolts on the shelves. There are solids and blenders, and wonderful large and small prints. Tone on tones are on hand if you want to calm the prints down a little, or are just looking for light non-solids. Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett are here as well. Wide backings are on hand, as well as precuts like Fat Quarter packs, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes. There are also some really cute panels. Check out the Steam Punk bird cage panel pictured, where all of the animals are make from sewing implements! My loony self wants to make a one block wonder out of this – it would be fascinating as a Stack-n-Whack!!
Several classes are running, including “Wonky Birds.” These critters might scare you in the garden, but as a quilt they are a lot of fun. All of the samples in the shop have patterns and many also have classes. Classes are limited to six learners, and machines are provided. The classroom also has a Accuquilt station with over 200 dies available. this can also be used outside of class, so if you have a dream pattern that needs to be cut, do give the shop a call if you are going to be in the area, There is also a 16 needle embroidery machine on hand; please call for more information. Also check out the great selection of patterns and specialty rulers.
Both edge to edge and custom long arm finishing are available, with most of the driving done by Mr. Leo. Please call the shop for pricing and lead times.
The shop is also the local Sassy Sunflower outlet. These are a group of patterns from Sassy Sunflower in Atlanta, Georgia. You purchase a set of five 1/2 yard cuts, and get a pattern of your choice to make something with them. There is a tote bag, and a selection of eight or so 48 X 60″ throw quilts, with more coming all of the time. Samples are throughout the shop, and picking just one is a challenge! The vendor only works with one shop in each area, so the local shops aren’t all offering the same thing. I would plan to spend between thirty and forty-five minutes here.
