This bustling shop is located less than a mile from Interstate 25. Owned by Barb Boyer, this is the local hub for crafting classes of all kinds – quilting, knitting, hand embroidery, and basic sewing. I didn’t get an exact opening date, (Miss Barb was with a fabric vendor, and I didn’t want to interrupt her perusal of next season’s goodies too much), but the clientele and activity make it clear this shop has been around and busy for quite some time.
There are well over 2,000 bolts of fabric here. Selections include tone on tones, blenders, and wonderful large and small prints. Banyan Batiks are on hand, as is wool for applique. The wool is both hand dyed and commercially dyed, and there are some wonderful colors in the hand dyes. Check out the selection of wide backs – you will not be disappointed! Jelly Rolls and Layer Cakes are available, and a nice section of western prints is on hand as well, including the Wyoming Trademark Bucking Bronco in both cotton and batik. Prism by Jason Yenter is also available. Don’t miss the panels!
Miss Barb designs at least one Block of the Month every year. There are generally at least two classes running every Saturday, from beginning quilting to more advanced techniques. Please check online for the class schedule. Samples are class quilts or patterns, with the pattern or class name identified. Laura Heine collage patterns are among those offered. The quilt below with all of the triangles is Millennial Charm Quilt, and has 2,000 triangles in it.
The shop will not long-arm your quilt, but they will teach you to use the machine, after which you can rent machine time and finish your own quilts. I actually rented time for several years before getting my own long-arm, and I highly recommend it as a way to learn the machine. Please plan to be here for at least thirty to forty-five minutes.
