Avoid the interstates between Cincinnati and Lexington, and take a relaxed and beautiful drive down US 27 instead. This wonderful shop is just a block from 27, and has a sister shop in Cold Springs. Owner Cynthia (Cindy) Wade has bees serving the local community for years, and calls all quilters part of the family. The shop offers edge to edge long arm services; please call the shop for details. She has recently sold the Cold Springs shop to the person who was managing it, since she didn’t really want two shops, but didn’t want to see that one close when it was likely to do so. That alone speaks of her dedication to the quilting community! I will have to pick up the Cold Springs shop next trip, as I am on a time limit this round. Watch for it in the coming months.
There are wonderful samples here. The shop runs six classes a week, so please check the website or call the shop for what is running when. There is also a Block of the Week running, shown at the right, in two color waves, one regular cottons and one batiks. Classes tend to be class if you want and sew if you’s rather. There Laura Heine Collage patterns, and patterns for most of the samples and classes for many of them.
Then of course, there is fabric. Panels, solids, blenders, and batiks are all on hand. Art Gallery fabrics, with a wonderfully soft hand, and large and small prints, and really pretty wide backings. There are flannels and a nice selection of 30’s Reproduction fabrics that reminded me of the feed sack collection I learned to sew with, where we’d look at the grain sacks at the store for the fabric rather than the grains. If you are looking for a finished quilt, those are for sale as well. Batting and Insulbrite (think pot holders) are also available.
Did you ever thinks of a sewing machine in something other than white? The shop is a dealer for Ever Sewn machines, and this aqua darling is available for adoption. Check out the rest of the line as well – I am seeing these more and more often, and folks that have them tell me me they are wonderful machines.
I would plan to be in this shop for a least twenty to thirty minutes to see everything.
