Located less than a mile from AB-43, owners Amber Krieger and Sherry Perron talked about opening a quilt store for over 20 years, and three years ago they finally did it. With over 50 years of sewing and quilting experience between them, they can pretty much do whatever sewing the area needs, like classes for children and adults, mending, 15 needle embroidery, and boat tarps, to name a few!
Let’s focus in the fabric, since that’s what I enjoy. The shop stocks over 1,500 bolts of cotton quilting fabrics, including plain Grunge, solids, and blenders. There are large and small prints, and a selection of tone on tones. Flannels are available in both 45″ and 108″ for backings. Standard cotton wide backs are also available, but when the winter temperatures dip WAY below zero, flannel backings are quite useful. The shop also carry polar fleece, Fireside, and Minky. Hand selected in house Fat Quarter bundles are available, as are panels and quilt kits. Don’t miss the antique sewing machines on display around the shop!
Take time to enjoy the samples while you’re visiting. The Crayon Quilt is from when Miss Sherry was teaching Kindergarten, and is a great idea for any group of children as a Memory Quilt! The shop also has an ongoing project to provide quilts to local foster children. There is a Block of the Month running, that can be mail ordered or done in person, as well as in house open sewing times.
