Located less than a mile from SK-16 (Trans Canada Highway), this attractive shop has been serving the local sewing community for over 17 years. Owner Patti Erikson-Reynolds also has a shop mascot, a standard poodle named Chloe, but Miss Chloe had the day off when I visited. There are wonderful samples, and over 3,300 bolts of fabric.
About the fabric: there is plain Grunge, solids and blenders, and tone on tone in both ivory and white. Large and small prints are available, including the lovely soft flowered prints by Tilda that I have come to recognize by sight. Batiks are well represented, and linen and canvas for bags are on hand. Jelly Rolls, Fat Quarter bundles, and Charm Packs are here in abundance. Most kits are made in house, for both quilts and other projects. Patterns are also available if you want to pick out your own fabrics.Wide backings are available in cotton and cotton flannel, as well as Cuddle and Fireside.
As for samples – they are everywhere! I love seeing a lot of samples in a shop, as samples give everyone ideas and show how a pattern looks made up, often much better than the picture on the pattern. Classes are available for both quilting and bag making; please check the website or newsletter for times and details. There is also a selection of clothing patterns, with help available if you haven’t sewn garments before.
The shop is a registered dealer for Juki and Bernina machines, so stop in if you are in the market. My sister quilts all of her creations on an industrial Juki, so I know they will handle the work. Repairs are available for most models; please contact the shop for more information. I would plan to be here for thirty to forty-five minutes.
