Located just about five miles from NB 15 or twelve miles from NB 1, this busy shop is worth the detour . Owner Kate O’Brien is an expert quilter as well as a long arm operator, and can answer any questions you may have about current or future projects. The shop is housed in a steel pole building, but you would never realize that once you’re inside!
Designer fabrics are arranged by designer, with Kaffe Fassett, Tilde’s Cotton Beach, Tula Pinks, and Northcott. There are solids, blenders, and tone on tones shelved by color to make matching to your prints easy. Don’t miss the batiks, both traditional and Northcott’s Banyan Batik line. There is also a great selection of fat quarter bundles, Jelly rolls , and panels. All in all there are over 1,500 bolts of fabric to keep you busy. Wide backs are also on hand, and some wonderful Stack-n-Whack possibilities. Miss Kate also has one of best collections of useful gadgets I’ve seen in awhile, and she has used all of them and can tell you how they can help you.
Samples are displayed throughout the shop, and many have matching kits. I live the panel centered One Block Wonder made with the Journey Home panel by Northcott. The shop runs a Block of the Month, and classes are done both online and in person at the same time, so you don’t miss the discussion even if you can’t come in person.
Kate’s is a licensed dealer for Bernina and Baby Lock machines, with company trained and certified repair persons in house. My next travel machine may be Bernette – if my Viking ever gives up the ghost!! Do check the machines while you visit! Long Arm services are also available; please check with the shop directly for pricing and lead times.
