Owner Rita Lawrence runs this delightful shop in a home turned store, located less than four miles from Interstate 70 going through Zanesville. The shop opened in 2005 and has been serving the area ever since. She has been sewing most of her life, and has won ribbons at many quilt shows, so if you have quilting questions, this is definitely the place to ask them!
Fabric brands include Moda, Northcott, P & B Textiles, and RJR; I spotted some Kaffe Fassett as well. Her stock is at least 1,000 bolts and includes some solids, a lot of blenders, plain Grunge, batiks, and prints both small and large – including some wonderful Stack-n-Whack candidates!. There is also Westwood Homespun, which is yarn dyed so the fabric does not have a wrong side, Flannels are present and accounted for, and wide backs are available in Cuddle (60″) and cotton (108″). Wool is available by the bolt for quilting or clothing. There are Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, Candies (2.5″ Square packs), and Layer Cakes. There is a great selection of patterns and notions. Business Cards are available for local long arm vendors. The shop has a new Long Arm System, but they are still learning to use it – having one myself, I know this takes time!
While you’re browsing the shop, look up at the tops if the shelves! You are being watched by these guys, and they are adorable! There are also some vintage machines to admire, including a Featherweight.
There are a lot of samples hung throughout the shop, with patterns for them and many others available. Don’t miss the tree of bags and totes in the back room! Kits are also available for some of them, or you can build your own kit – one of my favorite things to do, since I can make the quilt to match it’s intended final use, whether in my house or someone else’s. Of course, Miss Rita or one of the staff can help you to select fabrics if you are new at this or simply need a little bit of advice. If you’re looking for something specific, please ask. If the shop doesn’t carry it, they would be happy to order it for you.
