Located about 30 miles from highway 36, this shop is owned by Joe and Joyce Flanders, and includes a retreat space that can hold up to 29 guests. Please call for more information about this feature, or ask when you visit the shop.
There is a great selection of fabrics here, including lots of prints for Stack-n-Whack, smaller prints, and plenty of solids, tone on tones, and blenders. There is also a great collection of Stonehenge blenders, ombres and backings. There are over 3,000 bolts of assorted fabrics to browse through. Panels are available, as are Jelly Rolls, Stonehenge strip packs, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs.
There are beautiful samples hung around the shop, so be sure you look up when you’re visiting. All have been hand quilted by the local Amish community, and just to get an idea, there are around 30,000 quilting stitches in a queen sized quilt. That is a LOT of stitching! Patterns and kits are available for most of the samples, or you can buy the pattern and choose your own fabric.
The shop offers both long arm services and hand quilting services. The long arm machines can be rented after taking a class to learn to operate them properly. Given the cost of these systems, that is only to be expected.
Hand embroidery is very popular in this area, so there is a wonderful selection of patterns and floss for this craft. I still enjoy this periodically, and it is much more portable that a full sized quilt.
Plan to spend at least 30 to 40 minutes here to see everything.
