Pinetop Star Quilt Shop Lakeside, Arizona

Located just about a mile from Nana’s, but in a completely different town, this shop is a wonderful stop with a LOT of samples! Owned by Barbara Yetter, the two shops do some coordinating so the fabrics at both are distinctly different. Lakeside is also atop the White Mountains, and the drive up on Arizona 260 is beautiful.

While there are a lot of samples, there are also over 1,000 bolts of fabric to enjoy. Kaffe Fassett is featured, as well as blenders and solids. There is a great collection of tone on tones, batiks, and Grunge in plain and dots. Prints both large (think Stack-n-Whack) and small are here, and some wonderful 30’s Reproduction fabrics. Wool for applique is available, as are flannels and wide backings. Don’t miss the cabinet of precuts! Kits for quilts and pillowcases, panels, patterns, and notions complete the offerings.

I loved all of the samples here. I bought the template for the hexie quilt. It is a two piece set that lets you machine sew the blocks and then join with fancy stitching, and you end up with a completely reversible quilt. I liked the portability – I can sew these blocks in my camper and assemble the final quilt when I get home. The field of lavender panel is even more gorgeous in person, and the salmon wall hanging is an upcoming class…

Long Arm Services are available, with two machines in house and running most of the time. Options are edge to edge computerized or custom quilting. Please contact the shop for pricing and lead times. Quilts can be shipped to and from the shop.

For the yarn enthusiast, there is a selection of yarns and knitting and crochet patterns.

Quilting classes are back in session, so check out the listings on the website and see if there is something you’d like to learn.

Plan to be here for at least 30 minutes.
