Watch for a building with Cove Power Sports on the outside – then look for the sign on the sidewalk. This wonderful shop is a place for all crafts, including quilting, yarn crafts, and ceramics. Owned by Kelley Kelsey, it is located right off of Route 50 in the town of Ely. The town boasts a population of just over 4,000, so this shop supports all of the area crafters.
There is a nice selection of fabrics here, over 500 bolts, ranging from solids, blenders, and tone on tone to some wonderful prints. There is also flannel and fleece. Ninety percent of the fabric stocked is made in the United States of America. There is also a great collection of buttons and trims to play with. Jelly Rolls and Fat Quarter bundles are also available. Cuddle is available up to 60 inch widths. Those trains in the photo below would have been wonderful when my son was smaller, so if there is a train lover in your family, give in to temptation! Classes are held every Tuesday. Please call the shop to see what is on tap, times, and cost if you are planning to be in the area for the day.
There are consignment goods on hand if you’d like to pick up a gift or two while you’re here. I really like these crochet edged dish towels – button over you oven or dishwasher door, and you have a place to dry tour hands without having to search for it. There are also knitted scarves and some quilted items. Inventory changes often, so plan to see what is here when you arrive.
Just to be fair, I must mention the ceramics. The shop started as purely ceramic arts, and branched into quilting and knitting over time. There are over 70,000 molds and three kilns here, so if you are looking for a particular piece, do give Miss Kelley a call and see of she has the mold for it.
Did I mention yarn? There are dozens of colors and styles to tempt you. If you already know how to knit or crochet, you could get in a LOT of trouble here! If you want to learn, this is a good place to start.
Plan to be here for at least 30 minutes – longer if you start looking at ceramic molds!
