Just about 3 miles from Interstate 295 between Portland and Augusta, you will find Karen Kenney’s Fabric Den Quilt Shop. It is located in Senter’s Place, through the double doors and up the ramp to the left. Google Maps will take you to the parking lot behind Senter’s Place.
This crafter’s paradise is a wonderful combination of quilting and yarn arts. There are over 500 bolts of fabric ranging from large prints to small prints to blenders and some solids. The shop hosts a certified Quilt in a Day Instructor for four months every summer, so if you are going to be in the area for awhile, call and get signed up for a class. Miss Karen teaches all year.
Long arm services are available, so bring your latest top along. There is a nice selection of wide backs to choose from if you don’t have a backing picked out already. Please call ahead for pricing and lead times.
There are samples throughout the shop, both quilts and yarn arts, so plan to spend some time looking these over. The classroom is across the hall, so don’t forget to go over and check out the sample quilts on the walls there as well. Fabric Den offers quilting classes, as well in needle felting, knitting, crocheting, and primitive weaving. Available yarns include alpaca and wool. Plan to be here 20 to 30 minutes.
