Oxford Mill End Store Oxford, Maine

Located just 25 miles from Interstate 95, this is another store that is well worth the drive. Owned by Cathy Corbett, the store carries quilting, upholstery, and clothing fabric.

Don’t let the name of this shop fool you – they have a lot of woolen mil ends, but the quilting fabric is first run. There are over 1,000 bolts of quilting fabric here to temp you. Styles range from batiks and landscape prints to panels, solids, and lots of prints. There is also a wonderful selection of wools, whether you use them for quilting or clothing.

There are bags for sale, as well. If you’d prefer, you can buy the pattern and make the bags in your own colors. There are several styles to choose from , and they can be customized to suit your needs.

The shop is a licensed Pfaff Dealer, so take some time to look at machines while you are there. As someone who started sewing on a treadle machine, the more modern machines and all that they can do amaze me. I haven’t given in and bought one yet, but some day…

There are samples displayed throughout the shop. Make sure to check these out for ideas, inspiration, and to decide what patterns you’d like to take home. Classes are available for many of these, as soon as COVID allows them to resume.

The store sells completed quilts, as well as offering custom order quilts, whether memory quilts or a specific pattern you’d like to have made. The shop is a drop off and pick up point for local long arm quilters. Sewing machines may also be dropped off for service. Plan to spend 30 to 40 minutes here.
