This shop is truly in the north woods of Maine. It is a pleasant two hour drive from Augusta, Maine, with camping at the Aziscoos Valley Campground just a couple of miles down the road. This is definitely rural Maine, so watch for moose (yes, I saw one!) and other wildlife.
Owned by Carol Flanders, this shop started as a long arm and custom quilt business, and grew from there. Miss Carol is now carrying over 1,200 bolts of fabric, ranging from batiks and prints to blenders and solids. She also carries a nice selection of panels, landscape fabrics, and “woodsy” prints. As a Long Arm shop, she also has a great selection of wide backs.
Check out this great selection of panels! If you are looking for a centerpiece for a Maine Memory quilt, several of these would be perfect for the job. I used a panel for the center piece of a quilt I made after I went though Alaska last year, and it turned out wonderfully.
Take some time to check out the patterns while you are in the shop. If you would prefer, Miss Carol makes custom quilts to order. Ask her for details if you are interested in this service.
Make sure you greet the shop mascot when you arrive. Plan at least a 30 minute stop here, longer if you need to get your “puppy fix” before you start shopping.
