Sew Many Things Sewing Center Clinton Township, Michigan

“One of the friendliest shops I’ve ever been in.” That is how a customer described Sew Many Things Sewing Center to me. Located northeast of Detroit, about 4 miles from I94 in Clinton Township, the shop is co-owned by sisters Patti Mitrowski and Nancy Dufoor. The shop has filled two spaces in the strip mall where it is housed.

One of the first things you’ll notice coming in the door is the display of new fabrics. There were 180 bolts of these the day I visited, ranging from blenders to prints. Try not to get lost here, or you will miss the rest of the shop!

Check out the giant scissors and ruler above the cutting counter – no chance of missing where to take your selections to be cut!

There is a wide selection of fabrics available – at least 2,500 bolts by my estimate. There are also samples available for inspiration, as well as kits. Sew Many Things also carries fabrics for clothing and home decorating. It truly is your one stop fabric shop. If you enjoy machine embroidery, there is a wide selection of Floriani threads available, as well as backings and patterns.

Classes include Block of the Month, as well as Judy Niemeyer Foundation Paper Piecing Classes. Sew Many Things is a Judy Niemeyer Certified Store, with a Certified Shop Instructor. There is also a Judy Niemeyer Block of the Month that started meeting at the store last April. Also offered are beginning classes for children – check out the website for pictures of these excited children with their creations!

The shop is a Handi Quilter Distributor, and has several machines on display. Be sure to stop in the back and check these out. Longarm services are available but are off site. New owners receive one on one training on their new machines as part of the service the shop provides

Special note: As the granddaughter of a WWI Army Veteran, the daughter of a WWII Army Veteran, a former Marine wife, and the parent of a Marine (Daughter), retired Air Force Chief (Son in Law), and my favorite Airman (Son, 11 years active duty yesterday), I must take time to thank all of our Military Veterans for their service and sacrifice to keep us all free. Prayers for the families of those who paid the ultimate price, as well as the families of those who wait at home while their loved ones serve. Happy Veteran’s Day!
