Quilting Confections Windsor, Ontario, Canada

The final stop on my day in Ontario was Quilting Confections, in Windsor, Ontario. Quilting Confections, owned by Heather Northrup, is about nine miles from the Ambassador Bridge into Ontario from Detroit, Michigan. Google Maps actually has the directions and address correct for this shop!

From the Strawberry Pop for this years Row by Row, to the delightful samples (LOVE the giraffes!), there is inspiration everywhere. Quilting Confections has classes for most of what you see, and as a sign assures you, “We Have Kits For These Projects!” There are quilt and project kits of all sizes. You can, of course, go off the grid and choose your own fabrics if you want to do so for the quilts – but stick with their choices for the Row by Row, please.

There is a wide selection of fabrics to look at here – well over 1,000 bolts. The shop carries a large selection of blenders, as well as batiks and prints. There is also a nice selection of Grunge fabric, including some dots.

Quilting Confections is also a Baby Lock dealer. Do take some time to check out the machines on display. I’m sure you could find room in the trunk or the back seat for anything you fall in love with – as long as it’s not a long arm!

If you already have an embroidery machine, or are just buying a new one, check out the selection of Floriani backing fabrics available. There are multiple widths and weights, so you are sure to find what you already use or have been trying to find.

There is also a great selection of Floriani embroidery threads to add to your collection, not to mention embroidery patterns.

Finally, there is a great selection of attachments available for your Baby Lock. Check and see if there is something you need or want.

In addition to classes, there is a Friday Sit and Sew, where you can bring projects to work on or ask for advice. The coffee is always on!

If you collect rulers (I admit it, I do…) there are a lot of choices.

You also have to option to call ahead to have your batting cut – and get a discount for calling ahead. Ask when you call to see how much it is.

The fabric below is a panel that I have not seen anywhere else. I’m not sure what I’d do with it, but I’m sure trying to figure something out! It is stunning in person, and it’s 57 inches square. One customer made it into a circular skirt…

  1. Quilting Confections is one of my favorite quilting shops. There is always a great supply & selection of fat quarters & the friendly & knowledgeable staff is always ready to help with any sewing project. In addition, there always all kinds of perks like having your name in a draw for bringing your own bag.
