Happy Labor Day to my USA followers!
Located just over three miles from MB-1 (Trans Canadian Highway), this unique shop is wonderful for quilters and crafters. Owners Wendy and George van der Walt opened the shop from their home in Swan River in February of 2012, then moved to this brick and mortar shop in Brandon. The shop carries IOD Molds and transfers, as well as Fusion Mineral Paints. These paints are resin based, and very useful for furniture and crafting.
There are also wonderful fabrics here. Selections include Tim Holtz and Kaffe Fassett, as well as Tula Pink. Designs include some wonderful small prints, and large prints that would make wonderful Stack-n-Whack. There are solids and blenders, tone on tones, and beautiful wide backings. Fat Quarter bundles, Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes are also available. All in all, there are over 2,500 bolts of fabric on hand to tempt you. Laura Heine Collage patterns are on hand, as well as quilt patterns and a nice selection of yarns.
Check out the samples hung throughout the shop. There are kits and/or patterns to match the samples, and the shop runs classes ranging from beginning sewing to more complex quilting classes. There are also crafting classes to teach you what you can do with the IOD molds and transfers. Please check out the class schedule on their website, or call for more information.
The shop is a registered dealer for Bernina and Janome machines, as well as AQPS Long Arm Systems. Do take some time to check out the machines if you are in the market now or thinking about one for the future.
Long Arm Services are available; please contact the shop for pricing and lead times. There are also baskets on hand as part of ongoing support for Big Blue Moma, a Fair Trade company.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to thirty minutes, longer if you’re looking at machines.
