Located right on Route 30 (The Lincoln Highway) east of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, this wonderful shop sports quilts and fabric inside and quilt blocks painted on the outside. Owner Hether Sneeringer has this shop, and a second shop called Sew ‘n Sweep in Westminster, Maryland, that also sells – you guessed it – vacuum sweepers. I’ll catch the Maryland shop next time I’m in the area.
There is a wealth of fabrics here, over 6,000 bolts to temp and encourage. In addition to a large selection of Kaffe Fassett, there are blenders, tone on tones, and a new brand of solids I had not seen before called Pepper Cotton. It has a really soft, fluid hand that makes it a delight to handle, and comes in wonderful rich colors. Plain Grunge is on hand, as well as large and small prints. Being this close to Gettysburg, there is also a nice collection of Civil War and 30’s Reproduction fabrics. There are wide backs, flannels, and gingham here as well. Charm packs and Jelly Rolls are also on hand.
There are wonderful samples to admire and inspire you. I love the feathers done in Kaffe Fassett fabrics! Patterns are available, and also kits for some on them. I also enjoyed the antique machines on display on top of the fabric shelving. Do make sure to check these out while you are in the shop. Some of them seem really hard to use, but compared to hand stitching everything they were are wonder in their time!
The shop is licensed to carry Singer, Pfaff, and Juki machines. They sell standard sewing machines, embroidery machines, and long arm systems, so if you are in the market for a new machine, do check them out. Machine repair is available, so give them a call if you need this service.
Please plan to spend at least thirty to forty-five minutes here.
