Located just over three and a half miles from Interstate 83, this shop has been serving the York area for 36 years and counting. Owners John and Anita Morgan started with a vacuum and sewing business, then bought Snyder’s Vacuum in 1989 and merged the stores under the new name of Snyder’s Sewing Center. A few minutes of conversation made it quite obvious that these folks know sewing and sewing machines!
Consider this your major source for blenders. As of the recent inventory, there were 2,980 bolts of fabric here, with more coming in daily. This shop is unique in that they order the complete line of every blender they carry – and they carry a lot of them! That means if you are trying to match shades in a print, this is the place to start and finish. In addition to blenders, there are solids, tone on tones, Grunge, and batiks. Wide backs and small and large prints are also on hand, including Kaffe Fassett, Tula Pink, and Tim Holtz. Fossil ferns are also available – these are one of my favorite fabrics! There is also a nice selection of panels, Fat Quarter Bundles, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls.
There are beautiful samples on display, and the shop cuts their kits in house, generally to go with current or past classes. There is also a nice selection of patterns on hand, so if you don’t see a kit you like, select a pattern and make your own kit to go with it. The staff is very knowledgeable and quite willing to help with fabric selection in needed.
The shop also carries Aurifil and Mettler threads, so if you have an embroidery machine, stock up!
Speaking of machines – the shop is a registered dealer for Brother, Janome, Elna, and Baby Lock machines. They also have an extremely capable repair staff in house. All brands of machines may be brought in for service here, and all service is done in house, so your machine is never sent out. I had to include the gem at the left – how far machines have come! Please plan to spend at least 30 to 45 minutes here.
