Shippen Stitch Shippensburg, Pennsylvania

This is the second of two shops I visited in Shippensburg, and is also located about 10 miles from Interstate 76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) but in a slightly different direction. Owner Tim Diehl opened the shop in 2018, and has been growing steadily ever since. He started out selling sewing machines, and fell in love with the quilting industry. His mom had always wanted a quilt shop, so she gets to come in and play while Tim works. Sounds like a plan to me!

There are over 750 bolts of fabric on hand with more on order. Selections include Tim Holtz’s Alchemy line – great background fabrics! There are also solids and blenders, and a nice selection of batiks by the yard. Batik pre-cuts are on order and should arrive soon. Tula Pink is in the house, and a small selection of panels with more on order and due soon. I saw some wonderful prints, both large and small, and some absolutely gorgeous wide backs. There are Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls. Don’t miss his great collection of antique sewing machines scattered throughout the shop! The shop also carries a nice selection of yarns.

This is just one of the many samples on display. Classes are available for quilting, knitting, and tatting. Please check the website for the class schedule. There are also Laura Heine Collage patterns and classes. Long Arm Services are available; please call for rates and lead times. Do Greet Miss Josie, the shop mascot, when you arrive. She loves to have you throw her dragon and will bring it back to you – sometimes!
