Cozy Quilts & Things Mulberry, Arkansas

Rolling east toward home, I stopped just outside Mulberry at a shop that is about three miles from Interstate 40 or eight miles from Interstate 49, and about 20 miles from the Oklahoma border. Owned by Linda DeWaters, this delightful shop is a bit off of the beaten path but very much worth the trip. Google maps will get you there without any problems at all, and the sign that says 400 bolts of fabric is a bit out of date – it is really over 4,000!!

There is really a lot of fabric here, from Grunge in standard width and wide backs to the Grunge paint line. Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett are also well represented. There are solids, tone on tones, and blenders. Batiks are present and accounted for, and both large and small prints are available. There were some wonderful Stack-n-Whack candidates! Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Fat Quarter bundles are all cut in house from stock, so getting matching yardage for borders is quite simple. There are also panels available. The shop also carries Acuquilt Go machines and dies.

Classes are back in session, and samples of both class offerings and other quilts are throughout the store. There is a Table Runner if the Month Club, and completed quilts are also offered for sale. Miss Linda was working on a Giant Dahlia quilt for an upcoming class the day I visited – it is going to be stunning! There are also Embroidery classes, as the shop is a certified Kimberbell location. Please call the shop for details or check online for class details.

There are patterns and quilting books on hand, so take the time to pick a pattern and play fabric search! I love building my own kits – sometime I will pick a pattern at the first shop I visit for the day, pick a focus print at the next shop, and then pick a matching fabric at each of the next several shops until I have built a kit on the road. You should try it sometime…

The shop opened about 12 years ago as a long arm service with three machines, and continues to provide this service to area quilters. It started in a side shed on the property, then expanded into the current location, a building of its own., and added fabric and other quilting needs. Please contact the shop for pricing and lead times. There are over 150 different wide backings to choose from, so if you haven’t chosen a back yet, check them out when you bring your top in to be quilted.

Plan to spend at least 30 minutes here to see everything the shop has to offer.
