Located just over the Oklahoma border and less than 10 miles from Interstate 40 (actually less than a mile from I540), don’t let the name and google listing fool you. This store may have started with sewing machines, but owners Jeannie and Patrick Moody also carry a LOT of fabrics. It could as easily be called Fabric & Sewing Machines.
Since machines are listed first, let’s start with them. The shop is a registered dealer for HandiQuilter, Elna, and Janome. They also repair all brands. If you are looking for a new machine, or a long arm system, plan to spend some time here. You might even call ahead for an appointment to look at the machines, but this is not necessary. There is a great selection of rulers for cutting and templates for machines quilting. Although the shop carries HandiQuilter, they neither rent machine time nor do customer quilting in house, but there are cards available for local long-armers available to have your masterpiece finished.
Heat Transfer Vinyl, glitters, and foils are available for t-shirts or quilts. Then there is the fabric. With well over 1,500 bolts on hand, including licensed Arkansas Razorback fabrics, you’ll need to spend some time in the fabric section as well. There are solids and blenders, batiks, and large and small prints. Panels are available, as well as Aboriginal Prints by M&S Textiles, one of my favorite brands for these since they both acknowledge the designer on the selvage and publish information as to what the symbology means. There is also a nice selection of threads, trims and notions, for either clothing or embellishment.
Samples are displayed throughout the shop. Some have kits; most have patterns. If you don’t see a kit, feel free to build your own with the fabrics on hand. Staff members are happy to help with this if you find it a bit daunting! As classes resume, you’ll see class samples on display too. The one at the left has embroidered blocks, and it is stunning in person!
Please plan to spend at least thirty minutes here. As usual, I spent well over an hour looking and chatting.
