Savage Quilter Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

This busy shop is literally right next door to Thursday’s shop, and is just located less than two miles from Interstate 44, or five miles from the Kilpatrick Turnpike. Owner Debbie Savage has been quilting for years, and is the reason for the shop name.

Fabric rules this store, followed closely by samples. Let’s look at the fabric first. There are dozens of wide backs, as well as solids, blenders, and tone on tones. Fabric is arranged in color walls and by collection. Kaffe Fassett is well represented, and there is a nice collection of Civil War. 1930’s Reproductions are also present, as is Shabby by Riley Blake, designed by Lori Holt. Plain Grunge is available, as are batiks and large and small prints. Jelly Rolls, Bali Pops, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs abound, and fat quarters are shelved with the bolt from which they were cut. Panels are here, as well as Laura Heine patterns and fabrics. Lori Holt’s Cookbook Collection, notions, and books are also represented.

Time to check out the samples. The bull at the right was designed and made for last year’s Shop Hop, a mix of piecing and applique.

There are patterns for most of the samples and kits for many of them. There is also DMC floss, and a nice selection of quilt patterns. The staff will happily help you to select fabrics for any pattern you choose, or one you brought in with you.

There is a long arm system on the shop floor, but it is for in house use only; the shop does not offer long arm services at this time. Please plan to spend at least thirty to forty minutes here to see everything – I was in the shop for just over an hour!
