This wonderful shop is less than two miles from US Route 2, the road I am taking home from Spokane to Ohio. Owned by Katie Mykelbust, it was featured in the 2021 Spring/Summer edition of Quilt Sampler Magazine. Considering that Miss Katie bought the shop in 2009 because it was her mom’s favorite and was closing, that’s quite an achievement!
Her whole story is on the website and well worth the read. The shop is also a two for one – with a young daughter essential to the business, there is a also toy store included on the premises.
The shop carries at least 3,000 bolts of fabric, including solids, tone on tone, and blenders. Grunge is available in both 44″ and 108″ widths. There are batiks and a great collection of large and small prints. Flannels are available in standard and 108″ widths. There are panels and precuts, including Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Fat Quarter Bundles. Wide backs include a wonderful dinosaur panel that is 108 X 84 – perfect for you next boy’s quilt, or a friend who is a paleontologist! It is a digital print, and would also make a great whole cloth quilt.
Samples are all made by Miss Katie’s mom. After all, this is still her favorite quilt shop! There are also kits with patterns, generally over 100 of these to choose from, including Cuddle blanket kits. The samples are a selection of the kits available.
Edge to Edge long arm services are available, with four machines running most of the time. These were booked about six months out when I was in the shop, so please do call and check pricing and current lead times with the shop.
There is also a Facebook Live broadcast every Monday at 4:30, where you can see new fabrics, samples, tips, and updates. I would plan to spend at least 30 to 40 minutes in the shop when you visit.
