Pam’s Variety Boise City, Oklahoma

The shop is located in a town of about 1,200 people, and about eight miles from the Kansas border on US 412. Owned by Pamela Jo Carson, this shop was a wonderful surprise out in the middle of farm country. Walking in reminded me of the old five and dime stores, but go on to the back and be amazed! Quilts and quilting fabric rule the back half of the store and the back room. The town and local area has a lot of quilters, so Miss Pamela rose to the occasion and provided what is needed.

With over 2,000 bolts of fabric – over a bolt per person in the town – to choose from, you will find solids, blenders, tone on tones, and batiks. There are also prints both large and small, fleece, and Cuddle. There is a nice selection of panels. Clothing fabrics are available, as well as tapestry fabrics, great for for making tote bags, purses, and Bible covers. Don’t miss the second room of fabric in the back! Notions for clothing and items for quilt embellishment are also available, as are patterns for both quilts and clothing.

Samples are hung throughout the shop, and are visible from the front to draw you back to the quilting section. The one at the right was made with Jason Yenter’s Floragraphics line, and it is stunning. The photo is a closeup of one block; the full quilt is below. Being a Stack-n-Whack nut, I loved it! Patterns and fabric were available when I was in; that is of course subject to change!

Plan to spend at least twenty to thirty minutes here.
