The Stitchin’ Post is a quilt and sewing shop in Little Rock, Arkansas, about seven miles from I40. It’s in a deceptively city area – but I saw a wild turkey in the parking lot as I arrived!
Stitchin’ Post originally opened as a bridal, garment, and heirloom sewing shop 47 years ago. Owner Jane Bell added quilting fabric in later years when the interest in sewing garments declined. Today it is a wondrous mix of quilting fabrics and clothing fabrics, as the interest in sewing garments is increasing.
I smocked several dresses for my two daughters years ago, and was delighted to find several bolts of pastel batistes available in the shop, as well as various smocking patterns. If you enjoy this art form, be sure to stop in and check these patterns out. There are also classes if you’d like to learn. If there is a child or grandchild in your future, consider making one of these beautiful Christening outfits.
There are sample quilts and notions available, as well as a great selection of rulers.
Don’t forget to check out the selection of Kaffe Fassett fabrics! I was hard pressed not to blow the budget, since these make great Stack-n-Whack projects – one of my personal favorites!
Stitchin’ Post carries a wide selection of embroidery patterns, and is also a licensed Husqvarna Viking dealer, so check out the machines and patterns while you’re there.
Can you spot the antique hand crank sewing machine?
Plan at least an hour to browse the class list and see all that this shop has to offer.
