Bits & Pieces Hannibal, Missouri

Also located in Hannibal and just two miles from Interstate 72, this shop is a stroll down the street from Hickory Sticks Quilt Shop. Owned by Cindy Hannold, this shop is my second stop on the Highway 36 Quilt Trail. The two shops cooperate and offer distinctly different fabric selections, so do make sure you visit both of them. I parked in between and had a pleasant walk in this delightful town.

Bits & Pieces features over 1,000 bolts of fabric, ranging from Steam Punk to solids and blenders, batiks, and large and small prints. There are a lot of novelty fabrics – they had just received a collection of baseball themed prints when I arrived, and I could easily see a quilt for a young enthusiast – or an older one! Time to start sewin g now for Christmas… I also saw a Robert Kaufman collection called Sky Ombre that would make amazing landscapes. There are prints both large (think Stack-N-Whack) and small, and coordinates for them as well.

There are samples hung throughout the shop, with patterns and kits available for most of them. Some display some really nice techniques that I have learned over the years, and all are wonderful to admire. I have done the two fabric interleave several times when I needed a quilt that I could sew in an evening, and the best part is that non-quilters think you are a genius!

The shop sells Eversew Sewing Machines. I had not seen these before, but I absolutely love that one comes with an extension table! There is also a Featherweight group that meets here as well; please call for times and days. In house repairs are done by Miss Cindy, so if your baby is having an issue give her a call. Plan 20 to 30 minutes here to see everything.
