Located only one half mile from Interstate 77, this exciting shop is a quick detour that is more than worth the time. Owned by husband and wife team Mike and Chris Brauning, the store is currently being run by Mike while Chris worked on finishing her book, co-authored with her sewing partner, Cinda Pottmeyer, named “Multiple Madness.” It’s a wonderful technique and pattern for a 12 point medallion, with the template included – pictures of that later!
The first thing you see as you enter is new fabrics – they are stocked on a rack across from the door. With over 2,500 bolts to choose from , start with the new arrivals and them check out all of the other wonderfulness. There are solids, blenders, batiks, and prints both large and small. I saw some great Stack-N-Whack candidates! There is also Grunge, and a nice selection of wool. There are two shelves of backing, with more on order. Fabrics are coming in pretty steadily, but the backlog from Covid shipping delays is still pretty large. Orders due as long ago as September and October are finally arriving, and I have seen this at every shop I have visited. There are also patterns, books, and rulers to look through and make your selections. The shop also offers custom embroidered labels for your quilts. Please call for details.
Samples are available for inspiration throughout the shop. The Santa at the right is all embroidery, and it is stunning! Most samples have patterns, and many have kits, so check them out and make your choices. Mr. Mike is also an artist – the apple is one of his works, and it is beautiful!
I took some pictures from the new book, shown below, and well as the final quilt. If you love the kaleidoscope look, as I do, this is definitely a must have! Plan to be in this shop for 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how lost you get in all of the samples!
