Located just one and one half miles from US 23 and about an hour south of Columbus, this shop is a great stop if you are in the Columbus area. Owned by Laura Uhrig, the shop grew out of Creations Sew Clever. Miss Laura bought their inventory when that shop closed after 30 years. She opened 4 months before the COVID shutdowns, and has done a great job of keeping the community serviced in spite of the restrictions.
There is a lot of fabric here, over 2,000 bolts, with a great selection. There are batiks, solids and blenders, and a great selection of Grunge. There are a lot of prints, and a whole section of earth tones. Don’t miss the wall of Fat Quarters! The shop runs a Quilt Academy, a continuous class that teaches quilting techniques at all levels. The initial sampler covers applique, piecing, points, and curves, and later classes move on from there. If you are going to be in the area for a while, check out this and other class offerings. Sit and Sew is back, with masks required. Please call to make a reservation, as there are limited slots.
Fat Quarter Wall!
Samples are hung on every wall, and have patterns to match. Kits can also be made to order for any pattern in the shop. You can pick your own fabrics and the shop will cut what is needed, or if you prefer you can just select fabrics and go from there. I personally always buy extra, so I can play with the pattern and make the quilt my own, but having a kit can be quite useful too. Don’t miss the Ohio State quilt, a shop exclusive. It was designed here, and this shop owns the pattern.

Sew Clever sells both Janome and HandiQuilter machines. Take some time to look at these while you are in the shop, particularly if you are in the market for a new machine. Janome makes a lightweight model that my sister uses for travel and classes, as well as higher end systems.
Long arm services are offered in house, with both edge to edge and semi-custom quilting available. Please call to discuss pricing and lead times, as these vary with the season and the complexity of the custom request. Custom Embroidered labels can also be ordered. Plan to spend at least 20 to 30 minutes in this shop to see all of the fabrics and samples.
