Located about 20 miles from US 20 West, Caroline’s Cottage Cottons is a wonderful shop in an 1870 historic building and well worth the trip to see the fabric, as well as the building itself. Construction is of Georgia brick and hand hewn oak. It is on a residential street, but there is plenty of parking. Owned by Caroline North, each room has a name and a theme. The shop was featured in Quilt Sampler Magazine’s Fall/Winter 2018 issue.
The 2,500 bolts of fabric here feature bright prints, with lots of choices for Stack-n-Whack. There are also batiks, 30’s Reproduction, child friendly prints, and panels. Blenders and solids are available to match or highlight your prints. There is also a nice selection of wools. While you’re shopping, admire the beautiful wood flooring and traditional rag rugs.
There are samples on just about every available wall space, so plan some time to look at these as well as the fabric. Most are near the fabrics used to make them, and some have kits available; most have patterns. The staff is quite willing to help you with fabric selections for your pattern or one they have in the shop.
Plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes here to have time to see everything.
