Quilt Farm Part 2 – The Quilts Boston, New York

On Monday we looked at the fabrics at the Quilt Farm – over 10,000 bolts. Today we are looking at the quilts housed on the second floor, along with a spacious classroom. The Quilt Farm, owned by Isabelle Gernatt Schmidt, is located just about 12 miles from Interstate 90 Exit 57. It is housed in a building that was a dairy barn from 1939 to 1978. It started in 1989 as a Machine and Hand quilting service, and is a major source for finished quilts, table runners, and other quilted products.

The Christmas Room, located at the top of the stairs and to the right, has a pair of twin beds set up, with several quilts on each. Feel free to fold them back one at a time and make your selection, or just admire the workmanship. There are also quilts and quilted wall hangings on the walls. These are all Christmas themed, and there is Christmas fabric in here as well. There are dolls, bears, and Santa’s on the bookcase, and tree skirts on the beds.

The Halloween Room has a collection of Halloween themed quilts, quilted gifts, and fabrics. It also has beds set up and piled with quilts, and wall hangings to enjoy.

The main room has a full sized bed, with it’s own stack of quilts. Again, leaf though the stack and admire the designs and workmanship.

There are quilts on the walls, as well as racks with table runners and even more quilts. I quit counting at 150 completed quilts, and I didn’t even try to count the other quilted gift items. If you are looking for your next heirloom, this is definitely the place to be.

You could easily spend an afternoon here just looking at the quilts on the second floor, so start planning your day trip now so you’ll be ready to go when the quarantine is lifted! Stop back on Monday to see the next shop on the New York swing that I snuck in before everything closed…
